Canva is one way to do all of this and more for free. So if you’re not happy with the quality they will make it right. They’ve also partnered with printshops like FedEx to allow you to pick up the prints locally as quickly as possible. You will probably need to resize your design to the exact specs of the print option, but once you’ve checked all your bases, you can print directly from Canva.
Consistency will create a solid brand identity and makes your entire company feel more professional. If a project has a completely different colored design, it can come across as disconnected and it can cheapen your brand. If you do a lot of presentations, you may need to access brand logos from time to time. However, instead of running to Google to get brand logos, you can simply use the BrandFetch app to have an entire database of brand logos at your disposal. You can easily colorize the entire project by using the style menu. Simply navigate to the Style tab and select either your pre-defined brand colors or the built-in color pallets created by Canva.
You probably design social content directly inside Canva, which makes sense. But did you know you can publish your social content from Canva as well? This saves a ton of time from having to download the design and upload it to social media.

So instead, try to pick the right backgrounds, reposition elements, and change colors to help your design pop on screen without needing a shadow. The neighborhood around Hull House was ethnically diverse; a study by the residents of the demographics helped lay the groundwork for scientific sociology. Classes often resonated with the cultural background of the neighbors; John Dewey (the educational philosopher) taught a class on Greek philosophy there to Greek immigrant men, with the aim of what we might call today building self-esteem. Hull-House was a microcosm of the larger “settlement movement” that started in England in the early 1880s. Addams created a community of volunteer “university women” who were given the title of “residents” and held classes in history, art, and literature, as well as domestic activities like sewing. Within the first year of Hull-House’s operation, charitable donations started pouring in. Jane Addams lived from 1860 to 1935, from the Civil War to the Great Depression.

Hull-House eventually grew into a 13-building complex, laying the foundations for a larger social reform movement in America that still resonates today. In 1887–88 Addams returned to Europe with a Rockford classmate, Ellen Gates Starr. On a visit to the Toynbee Hall settlement house (founded 1884) in the Whitechapel industrial district in London, Addams’s vague leanings toward reform work crystallized. Upon returning to the United States, she and Starr determined to create something like Toynbee Hall. In a working-class immigrant district in Chicago, they acquired a large vacant residence built by Charles Hull in 1856, and, calling it Hull House, they moved into it on September 18, 1889.

Beyond helping people directly by providing needed local programs, the ladies involved in Hull House were active in social reform on the local, state, and national levels. Through their efforts, legislation was enacted regarding child labor, education, worker's compensation, occupational safety, and other significant social issues. Hull House was thus the home not just for individual advancement but also for changes that impacted society as a whole. When Jane Addams, known as the mother of social work in America, founded Hull-House on Chicago’s Near West Side in 1889, she dreamed of bringing different social classes together in ways that would benefit everyone. With the help of her college friend and sometime lover Ellen Gates Starr, she set up shop in a run-down mansion in 1889.

Jane Addams was born in Cedarville, Illinois on September 6, 1860 to Sarah Adams (Weber) and John Huy Adams. She was the eighth of nine children and was born with a spinal defect that hampered her early physical growth before it was rectified by surgery. Her father was a friend of Abraham Lincoln’s who served in the Civil War and remained active in politics, though he was a miller by trade.
Working-class women, such as Kenney and Stevens, who had developed an interest in social reform as a result of their trade union work, played an important role in the education of the middle-class residents at Hull-House. As Kenney was later to say, they “…gave my life new meaning and hope”. Addams believed that effective social reform required the more- and less-fortunate to get to know one another and also required research into the causes of poverty.
Before the conference began, she took a five-day journey, walking through towns devastated by war, passing houses shattered by artillery, and seeing emaciated children everywhere. With Alice Hamilton, she trudged through rain and mud to the cemetery at the Argonne searching for the grave of her favorite nephew, Captain John Linn, who had been killed by shellfire about a month before the armistice. Addams valued immigrants, repudiating restrictions and literacy tests. She believed simultaneously in Americanization and retention of ethnic identity.
Addams opposed the war, remained a pacifist, and became a pariah. She believed in self-discovery, self-discipline, and self-improvement. Her nephew and first biographer, James Weber Linn, pointed to her keen sense of humor. Not a prude, she believed in sex education, but criticized the hedonism of the 1920s and its fascination with Sigmund Freud. Cosmopolitan, she made 12 journeys abroad, despite her intermittent ill health.
She reminded herself that part of Wilson’s plan for “a peace without victory” resulted from the recommendations made at the Hague Conference she had led before the war. Her first book, Democracy and Social Ethics, which James admired, emphasizes such phrases as social equality, moral idealism, civic virtue, association, industrial amelioration—all words and ideas she repeated in her subsequent books. These concepts reflect Addams’s worldview and the progressive credo. Though devoted to European culture, Addams was at heart an American democrat who rejected the English class system. Mesmerized by Tolstoy, she visited him in Russia in 1896 and became a lifelong pacifist. Tolstoy, who had hundreds of visitors over the years, seemed unaware of her Chicago fame and chided her fashionable leg o’ mutton sleeves, which he found decadent.

After raising enough funds to rent part of the Hull Mansion, Addams and Starr set out to aid the needy immigrants in the Halsted Street area. Hull House opened as a kindergarten but soon expanded to include a day nursery and an infancy care centre. Eventually its educational facilities provided secondary and college-level extension classes as well as evening classes on civil rights and civic duties. Through increased donations more buildings were purchased, and Hull House became a complex, containing a gymnasium, social and cooperative clubs, shops, housing for children, and playgrounds. While traveling in Europe, Addams visited Toynbee Hall, a pioneer settlement founded by Canon Samuel A. Barnett in London’s impoverished East End. Many scholars stress Addams’s relevance, reminding us that we are still debating poverty, patriarchy, racism, immigration, assimilation, and class divisions. In an era of sexual openness, preoccupied with gender and identity, Addams’s personal life is scrutinized, her female friendships celebrated.
Aware of her celebrity, she collected a scrapbook of hundreds of articles extolling her influence. Allen Davis, a sympathetic but critical biographer, writes that Addams was “ambitious,” and “eager for publicity”—an admirable human being, but not just the self-sacrificing saint the public craved. “From the first word to the last,” her niece remembered, “she held the complete attention of her audience.” A woman of conviction, Addams was also a politician and compromiser. Generous, she had spent her inheritance on Hull-House and its many activities. By the mid 1890s and for the rest of her life, she lived off income from her writing and public speaking. Self-possessed, she moved easily among the wealthy and famous, perhaps a result of being born into the upper class of Cedarville.
Newer Ideals of Peace
In addition to publishing 11 books and countless articles on Hull House’s state of affairs and political objectives, Addams also maintained a demanding international lecture schedule which helped to promote and advance similar social movements worldwide. Never repenting her pacifism, Addams spent the last half of her life denouncing war in impassioned speeches and in subtle, convincing articles that gained in relevance as the Great War increasingly seemed futile. Whether her opposition to militarism would have remained steadfast with the challenge of Franco, Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin will never be known. To the public and most historians, however, she is more revered and remembered as a social reformer than as a critic of war. Americans celebrated business, not reform, corporations, not settlement houses.
Knight disagrees, citing Addams’s unsentimental realism and reminding us that she was very familiar with death and suffering. Students at the Hull-House music school, founded in 1893 by composer and music educator Eleanor Sophie Smith, studied voice as well as an instrument. Smith organized weekly concerts and included songs from the students' homelands in the repertoire. Balanced historians remind us that the squalor of the Nineteenth Ward did not represent all of America. Incomes were rising, trade was increasing, and productivity was surpassing that of Europe.
What were Jane Addams’s accomplishments?
In her autobiography, 20 Years at Hull-House (1910), she argued that society should both respect the values and traditions of immigrants and help the newcomers adjust to American institutions. A new social ethic was needed, she said, to stem social conflict and address the problems of urban life and industrial capitalism. Although tolerant of other ideas and social philosophies, Addams believed in Christian morality and the virtue of learning by doing. Young Addams graduated as valedictorian of Rockford Female Seminary at age 17 in 1881. In January 1961 plans to clear the area for a University of Illinois campus were announced by the city of Chicago. Legal protests by a community group organized to preserve Hull House and the neighbourhood were unsuccessful.

Hull House continued to serve the community surrounding the Halsted location until it was displaced by the urban branch campus of the University of Illinois in the 1960s.
In 1893, Governor Peter Altgeld appointed her Chief Factory Inspector for the state of Illinois, her work contributing to an eight-hour workday for women. Today, interest in Jane Addams is keen, and her reputation is in ascent. Scholars have published three volumes of The Selected Papers of Jane Addams, with more volumes to follow.

As a scholar of heroism and a former teacher of secondary-school students, I am always looking for exemplary lives. Jane absorbed Thomas Carlyle’s On Heroes and Hero Worship and revered Jo in Little Women. I think of Jane Addams as a hero—a woman of extraordinary achievement, courage, and greatness of soul. I see a role model for today’s youth caught up in a celebrity entertainment culture like the youthful immigrants of the early twentieth century who haunted saloons and movie houses described in Addams’s book The Spirit of Youth and the City Streets. Elected head of the newly formed Women’s Peace Party in 1915, Addams traveled to The Hague in the spring of 1915 to preside over an international conference made up of delegates from both warring and neutral nations. With some of the delegates, she then traveled to the warring nations, meeting foreign ministers, visiting wounded soldiers and grieving mothers, and absorbing the carnage ruining Europe.
In 1963 the trustees of Hull House sold its properties and adopted plans for decentralized operations in other parts of the city. The original Hull mansion and the adjoining dining hall were spared demolition and became a museum. The organization, operating as the Hull House Association, continued to provide various services until 2012, when it closed due to financial difficulties. Eventually, Hull House attracted visitors from all over the world and received international recognition.
The effect of an independent variable is easier to detect when the “noise” in the data is minimized. Several conclusions can be drawn about the effects of the various components in changing behavior. The data should first be evaluated to determine the extent to which the effects of individual components are independent of one another. If they are not, then the effects are multiplicative, or the effects of one component depend on the presence of another component.
Multiple-Baseline Design Across Settings
If two components produce equal changes in behavior, and the same amount of change when both are combined, then either component is sufficient but neither is necessary. Over the past 70 years, single-case design (SCD) research has evolved to include a broad array of methodological and analytic advances. In this article, we describe some of these advances and discuss how SCDs can be used to optimize behavioral health interventions. Specifically, we discuss how parametric analysis, component analysis, and systematic replications can be used to optimize interventions.

VARIETIES OF SINGLE-CASE DESIGNS
This research method yields a high amount of data that can be analyzed by researchers. This data can then be used to support a researchers hypothesis and/or give insight before moving on to a group research project. He researches the topic and consults with his mentor to discover three possible interventions that are sound and feasible. He decides to conduct a multi-element design where he alternates the treatments and evaluate how his learner responds to each version of the intervention in terms of eating. Whichever intervention produces the most food consumed will be the intervention that Tim continues to use. Janet, a BCBA and SPED teacher observed that her student struggled with achieving the correct pencil grip while writing.
Experimental control is demonstrated by the repeated changes in the dependent variable with each successive introduction of the independent variable. It protects against the inability of AB - type designs to demonstrate unequivocal control by the independent variable by showing the effects at different times. It is unlikely that a confound could repeatedly coincide with the introduction of the experimental variable.
REVERSAL DESIGNS
It has been linked to improvements in key areas including language, social skills, and adaptive skills. This type of treatment may focus on helping an individual in a specific situation where they are facing difficulty. The individual often works one-on-one with a therapist, but they may also practice these skills in small groups or in community settings. We are now in a position to evaluate whether SCDs live up to our ideals about optimization.
If the target behavior is not irreversible, combining the multiple-baseline and reversal designs produces a highly effective demonstration of experimental control with multiple subjects, settings, or responses. The main disadvantage of the multiple baseline design is that a high degree of planning is required to produce a successful implementation. There are close relatives of the basic reversal design that allow for the evaluation of more than one treatment.
Data Analysis in Single-Subject Research
The second problem is that the dependent variable may not return to baseline when the treatment is removed. For example, when positive attention for studying is removed, a student might continue to study at an increased rate. This could mean that the positive attention had a lasting effect on the student’s studying, which of course would be good.

The step counts for all six participants increased reliably with each increase in the goals, thereby demonstrating experimental control of the intervention. This design has many of the same benefits of the multiple-baseline design, namely that a reversal is not required for ethical or potentially practical reasons (i.e., irreversible treatment effects). There are two potential limitations of reversal designs in the context of behavioral health interventions. However, we think that the benefits of demonstrating that a treatment works outweigh the risks of temporarily withdrawing treatment (in most cases). The treatment can also be re-instituted in a reversal design (i.e., an ABAB design).
Again, the researcher waits until that dependent variable reaches a steady state so that it is clear whether and how much it has changed. Finally, the researcher removes the treatment and again waits until the dependent variable reaches a steady state. This basic reversal design can also be extended with the reintroduction of the treatment (ABAB), another return to baseline (ABABA), and so on.
Variants on the AB design introduce ways to control for the competing hypotheses to allow for stronger conclusions. The percentage of responses in the treatment condition that are more extreme than the most extreme response in a relevant control condition. A baseline is established for several participants and the treatment is then introduced to each participant at a different time. Experimental designs like ABA and ABAB are invaluable in the realm of research, enabling investigators to evaluate the impact of interventions and treatments.

Deciding to open a new Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) clinic is the first step in an exciting phase of your career. Like any new business owner, you’ll need to create a robust business plan, save money, and go through the steps of registering your business. To top it off, you (or your staff) need to receive the licenses and credentials required of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Setting up an effective ABA program at home takes work, but it can be worth it in the long run for your child’s developmental outcomes.
Studies using reversal designs typically include at least four or more participants. The goal is to generate enough replications, both within participants and across participants, to permit a confident statement about causal relations. For example, several studies on incentive-based treatment to promote drug abstinence have used 20 participants in a reversal design [24, 25]. According to the SCD standards, there must be a minimum of three replications to support conclusions about experimental control and thus causation. Also, according to the SCD standards, there must be at least three and preferably five data points per phase to allow the researcher to evaluate stability and experimental effects [31]. Research methods are tools to discover new phenomena, test theories, and evaluate interventions.
The utility of these designs is derived from demonstrating that change occurs when, and only when, the intervention is directed at a particular participant (or whatever the unit of analysis happens to be [28]). The influence of other factors, such as idiosyncratic experiences of the individual or self-monitoring (e.g., reactivity), can be ruled out by replicating the effect across multiple individuals. A key to ruling out extraneous factors is a stable enough baseline phase (either no trends or a trend in the opposite direction to the treatment effect). As replications are observed across individuals, and behavior changes when and only when treatment is introduced, confidence that behavior change was caused by the treatment increases. In a reversal design, a treatment is introduced after the baseline period, and then a baseline period is re-introduced, hence, the “reversal” in this design (also known as an ABA design, where “A” is baseline and “B” is treatment).
They were interested in how a school-wide bullying prevention program affected the bullying behavior of particular problem students. At each of three different schools, the researchers studied two students who had regularly engaged in bullying. During the baseline phase, they observed the students for 10-minute periods each day during lunch recess and counted the number of aggressive behaviors they exhibited toward their peers. (The researchers used handheld computers to help record the data.) After 2 weeks, they implemented the program at one school. They found that the number of aggressive behaviors exhibited by each student dropped shortly after the program was implemented at his or her school.
